πŸ₯ Our Team's Insights at EthCC Paris

We are delighted to share exciting highlights from our recent trip to Paris, where our team members, Jacob, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO); Gino, Head of Growth, and myself, had the incredible opportunity to participate in ParisDotComm, a side event of the renowned Ethereum Community Conference, Europe's largest annual Ethereum gathering organized by Ethereum France.

On the 19th, I took the Polkadot stage to share invaluable insights on 'Solving the Trustless Oracles Problem with Polkadot & t3rn.' During this period, Gino was actively involved in several side events, making valuable connections with prominent growth leaders from the web3 sphere. His engagements included collaboration with industry leaders from Ledger, Axelar, Uniswap, LayerZero, and Immutable.

πŸ›  Tech update: Milestones from t0rn's Testnet Parachain on Rococo

In this month's update from t0rn, the Rococo-based testnet parachain of t3rn, several exciting developments have taken place within the realm of blockchain interoperability and multi-chain environments.

  • The Ethereum Ranger has been diligently sending the latest header batches from the Sepolia testnet. However, this process wasn't without its challenges. We encountered numerous epochs during which we failed to achieve the required supermajority of sync committee signatures. To address this, we implemented a solution by reducing the Supermajority requirement for the Sepolia testnet to 67%, down from Ethereum's 80%. This adjustment has successfully brought us up to date with the most recent blocks on Sepolia.

  • Simultaneously, significant progress has been made in the domain of Attested Execution. Attesters are now signing batches, and the contract deployed on the Sepolia testnet is effectively verifying these attestations.

  • Moreover, at intervals of a couple of minutes, we are consistently transmitting cross-chain orders between t0rn and Rococo to thoroughly test the Executor bidding workflow. This continuous testing process is aimed at ensuring the seamless functioning of the cross-chain interactions.

  • Looking forward, a multitude of exciting developments are on the horizon. Our team will proactively integrate parallel Sepolia and Ethereum light clients, in addition to establishing header ranges. Furthermore, we have plans to conduct tests involving bridging transfers from Sepolia to t0rn. This innovative feature will empower users to directly send t3rn cross-chain orders (side effects) via a dedicated smart contract deployed on Sepolia. This contract will then generate the ID using the native Ethereum Keccak hashing scheme, preparing it for a seamless integration into the regular Side Effect execution flow to the Circuit. To facilitate this, we've made a significant adjustment by changing the default hashing scheme for all cross-chain orders on t3rn to Keccak. The runtime upgrade on t0rn proceeded remarkably smoothly, as the output lengths for both Blake2 (Polkadot's default hashing) and Keccak are consistently 32 bytes.

  • Additionally, in conjunction with the active Rococo light client, we are in the process of planning and establishing rangers for Polkadot and Kusama GRANDPA-based light clients. This strategic configuration will result in the activation of five on-chain Light Clients: Rococo, Kusama, Polkadot, Sepolia, and Ethereum. Each of these clients will actively receive the latest headers, setting the stage for our next QA milestone: testing cross-chain orders across these platforms. This represents a significant stride forward in the realm of blockchain interoperability and multi-chain environments.

Let's keep climbing Mt. Deverest. We secured the 4th position in Total Code Commits by Parachains Projects.

πŸ”‘ Blockchain Interoperability: The Key to a Connected Future

Our recent blog post sheds light on the game-changing concept of blockchain interoperability. We started by introducing the importance of this innovative technology, which allows different blockchain systems to seamlessly exchange data and value, fostering collaboration and innovation across isolated networks. We then delved into the various techniques being used to achieve blockchain interoperability, such as sidechains, oracles, and blockchain routers. These ingenious solutions facilitate direct communication between blockchain networks, enhancing overall connectivity in the blockchain landscape.

However, while blockchain interoperability holds immense potential, we also discussed the associated risks and challenges. Ensuring security remains a critical consideration, as transferring information between less secure and more secure blockchains can expose vulnerabilities.
